DESCRIPTION:La ciencia y tecnología mexicana representan el futuro y crecimiento de la nación\, junto con otros factores\, promueven la presencia de México en el mundo\, así como empleo\, emprendimiento y mercados emergentes donde la oportunidad de ser líderes es grande. \nMéxico ya cuenta con el talento y la iniciativa\, pero se necesita de una cooperación entre el sector público y privado\, así como el apoyo a las organizaciones de la sociedad civil que ofrecen incentivar tecnologías emergentes y el apoyo de las instituciones gubernamentales con el fin de favorecer el crecimiento del país a través de soluciones innovadoras. \nAdemás\, el acercamiento que ha tenido el país en materia de cuidado medioambiental no favorece en pleno al desarrollo del mismo y se tiene que tomar acción urgente de dichas medidas\, se debe concientizar a los tomadores de decisiones de fallar a favor de políticas que protejan y promuevan el cuidado del medio ambiente. \nEs por esto que Pa Ciencia la de México\, Red Global MX Arabia Saudita\, Medical IMPACT\, Hacking Health Mexico City y TIAN Taller de Habitat\, en conjunto con el Senado de la República llevarán a cabo el Foro de Diplomacia Científica en torno a la Ley de Ciencia y Tecnología. DESCRIPTION:We have the pleasure to inform you that we will be hosting the Biotechnology Regulation ImmersionCourse (MU-BRIC) again this year. The course will be held from August 28 to September 8\, 2017 inColumbia\, Missouri. \nAs in previous years\, the course will consist of two blocks.The first block will address: \n\nModern biotechnology\, including hands-on transformations of plants in the laboratory\nThe role of modern biotechnology in agriculture\, and its current and future pipeline\nGovernment policies on modern biotechnology – maximizing benefits and minimizing risks\nMaximizing benefits –setting the research agenda\nMinimizing risk — national and international biosafety systems\, regulations and agreements\nHands on training in environmental risk assessment and food/feed safety assessment\nRisk management\nCommunication\nMarket regulations (labeling regimes\, coexistence\, low level presence policies\, etc.)\nImpact assessment and benefits of biotech crops\nSocioeconomic considerations in decision making and\nThe potential impacts of biotech policies and regulations.\n\nThe second block will be a ‘fact finding’ tour\, from biotech laboratories and field trials to farmers’ fields\,and the grain merchandising system all the way to the processing and sale of final products. \nThe speakers are experts from governments\, academia\, public sector institutes\, and the private sector. \nThe working language of the course will be English. \nParticipation fee for the course is $6\,250 USD and covers all expenses except travel to the St. Louis Airport (i.e. all domestic travel\, accommodations\, meals\, per diem\, tours\, domestic insurance and registration fee). Fellowships are available to help partially or fully cover costs of participants who have no other means of getting their expenses covered. DESCRIPTION:La Sociedad Mexicana de Biotecnología y Bioingeniería (SMBB)\, fundada en 1982\, se ha consolidado como la principal agrupación científica y profesional en el área de la Biotecnología en México. En su membresía se cuenta con más de 1100 socios profesionales y estudiantes interesados en el desarrollo y la divulgación de la biotecnología y la bioingeniería a nivel nacional. \nEl Congreso Nacional de la SMBB se lleva a cabo cada dos años\, y se ha constituido en el foro más importante para discutir las nuevas tendencias y avances de la biotecnología aplicada a diferentes sectores\, tales como el agroalimentario\, farmacéutico\, industrial\, energético y ambiental. \nEl XVII Congreso dio a conocer los avances biotecnológicos y científicos en las áreas temáticas que se indican a continuación\, intercambiando experiencias\, creando redes de cooperación e involucrando a las nuevas generaciones en este campo del conocimiento a nivel nacional e internacional. \nEl Congreso incluyó 10 conferencias plenarias\, 12 Simposia y sesiones de trabajos libres presentados en forma oral o cartel dentro de las siguientes áreas. \nI. DESCRIPTION:El ISBGMO es una reunión internacional bienal organizada bajo los auspicios de la ISBR\, que se ha celebrado en Alemania\, Canadá\, China\, Francia\, Corea\, Nueva Zelanda\, Argentina\, Estados Unidos y Sudáfrica. Reúne a académicos\, desarrolladores de tecnología\, autoridades reguladoras\, organizaciones no gubernamentales y otras partes interesadas creíbles que participan en todos los aspectos de la seguridad de la biotecnología y ofrece una oportunidad única para compartir información y experiencias y entablar un diálogo abierto y significativo sobre la investigación en bioseguridad\, Y asuntos regulatorios. \nEl objetivo del simposio es hacer avanzar la situación de la investigación sobre seguridad de la biotecnología en todo el mundo y determinar las formas en que se aplica y se regula la tecnología genética. DESCRIPTION:¿Qué son exactamente los organismos genéticamente modificados (OGM) y por qué los desarrollan los científicos? El estudio de la ciencia de los OGM nos ayuda a entender el papel potencial de la biotecnología en abordar los retos en la agricultura. \nEn este curso introductorio de Alimentos y Nutrición\, aprenderá los fundamentos de la ingeniería genética\, explorará el debate político alrededor del OGM y revisará los argumentos a favor y en contra de su uso. \nEstudiaremos la política que rodea a los OGM y su impacto tanto a nivel individual como en la sociedad en su conjunto; Incluidos los problemas\, las percepciones\, los beneficios y los riesgos asociados con los OMG. Importante para entender las complejidades alrededor de este tema no sólo estaremos mirando la ciencia detrás de cómo funciona el OGM\, sino también a las limitaciones de esta ciencia. También discutiremos la importancia de la alfabetización en base a información como una herramienta para identificar y evaluar con eficacia las cuestiones. \nNuestro objetivo es que este MOOC influya en la comprensión de las personas sobre la ciencia\, lo que puede y no puede hacer y cómo se transmite la información.
